Is Handoff working reliably for everyone?

For me it's kinda iffy. I'm using a jailbroken (lol) 2011 MBA and an iPhone 6. But my brother's MBA is the latest and he's also seeing some reliability issues. We both ever got it to work iPhone -> Macbook, only MacBook -> iPhone. And that doesn't always work either.

I'm wondering if I'm the only one experiencing issues with it or is it just buggy because it's new and Apple is like that now.

At the risk of sounding like a troll, what happened to "it just works"? The phrase "I've gotten it to work" just doesn't sit well with me when it comes to apple products. People are having to jump through hoops to get one of the only new features of the OS to work.
