Is iCloud best for photo sharing?

I would like to share photos and videos across multiple devices - 2 iphones, 2 MacBook Pros, and and iPad. I already have a fairly large iPhoto library (close to 30 GB), and it will be getting bigger as I just bought a digital SLR.

I would like to keep all photos in a centralized localization where my family can see view them in their entirety. Is iCloud the best solution, or should I be looking into other options?

Approaching 30GB, I'd go with Flickr or Google. I have used Picasa photos for years, and it works great.

Google just dropped their prices on storage, and it's a way better deal than iCloud. Flickr has a good deal on unlimited storage (think it still does), but unlike Google it's just for photos.

You have to consider as well what you're using the sharing for: storage for you, or presentation? Rather different. Google wraps up their storage with Google+ and PicasaWeb (and Drive and Gmail). Flickr is mostly for sharing public galleries. I also like that Flickr and Google give you more control than iCloud does. The iCloud thing seems to work best with a close group sharing over iPhoto.

And you might consider Lightroom as well. It has publishing services that allow really easy sharing to most all sharing sites, with super easy updating. Quite effortless.

Just for sharing with Family and Friends, i think iCloud is Great. I think these shared photostreams are not counted in regard to your iCloud storage which is a plus.
