I remember back in the day when iTools was rolled out, I thought it was great, I migrated everything I could across to the free version, I even switched to a mac.com email address.. then Apple phased out the free features and I was forced to abandon it.

I watched as various iterations of these services came and went eg. MobileMe, and now we have iCloud.

My question is, is iCloud here to stay or is it likely to be phased out just like everything before it? Because before I commit to another of Apple's online services I want to know I can trust it's consistency and continued support.

Things will always evolve and change, hopefully for the better
I too, went through all versions, but will keep moving onward and upward

Glad we have Pages, Numbers and Keynote and weren't kept on AppleWorks ;)

I loved the story about Steve Jobs' comments about MobileMe, just because it twanged the '******* gong' in my subconscious, however I had no issues with MobileMe after the first month or so. Now, since I was forced to migrate to iCloud I have had major issues with almost all of it.

The UI has some kinks that piss me off:
  • Why do I have to go back to the first page to log out? Seriously?
  • Why don't calendars synch consistently. Never had a problem with MobileMe.
  • Why does it take so dang long for the mail page to come up.
  • Why does it take my iPad and iPhone sometimes MINUTES to check messages and populate most of the folders.

I spent HOURS trying to get the calendars to synch properly. I was so frustrated to try to get it to work. I set up several calendars to synch and some work perfectly, some, for some bizarre reason don't. I gave up...

And those words from Steve Jobs came into my head: What is it supposed to do? Why the &^*&^ doesn't it do it!

I'm not loving iCloud. It's iCloud 50, PMG 20...

At least I got to keep my me.com email address (so far)...

I have had nothing but trouble with iCloud. First because I have a mobile me account I discovered I could sync either my iWork docs or my itunes but not both as they have different accounts. Then in January some but not all of my Pages docs stopped updating. They appear on each device & my MacBook, but cannot be opened as they are 'updating' - sone for more than a week now. Thank God I took advantage of Box.net's 50gb free off last year! Oh and the calendars ? I've never got them I sync. iCloud is a disaster.
