Hi, regardless of additional storage, is the hide my email and additional randomized email addresses worth the monthly cost?

Also don't forget the ability to use custom domains, which for me is why I use it. But the other options are really down to whether they are important to you.

Thanks. Here is a confusion. When I paid yahoo for web hosting 20 years ago, I could chose an unused domain name and added several user ID as email addresses.

I read that to use custom domains, I need to buy a domain first before I can create different user ID with that domain. However, if I do that, I would be able to create different email accounts. So what is the different? Perhaps the information I read is incorrect? Once we have subscribed iCloud+, can we create something like: @abcdef.com if it is not used or we have to buy it from a company?

I guess the difference is that people don't pay for web hosting as much anymore to benefit from the option you noted. There are still plenty of services out there that offer email hosting. This is more for those that have a specific email requirement. In my case, surname.net and each of the family have one then very easy to configure on their iPhones.

So yes, in any event, you need to buy a domain.

I was all set to upgrade, mainly for the storage, but when I did the sums I realised it wasn't that great for a family.

Our family of four already have 20GB of free storage among us. I'm assuming the 50GB for the first tier would have to be shared among us if we upgraded?

If you're not part of a family, 50GB for a single user is more compelling.
