Is iMac Target Display Mode Possible with the Fan Off?

I've tried to search the forums and I've scanned Apple's info base but I'm not 100% clear on this. Is it possible to run an iMac (clearly a non-Retina version) in target display mode with the iMac's fan off (e.g. the computer is in sleep mode for example)? A strange concern but humor me.

No. Target Display Mode doesn't work in sleep mode, and only when the iMac is on.
