I am worried investing in M2 and having it replaced in 6 months - I was an early adopter of IPad 3 and was disappointed - any thoughts - thanks
It’s besides the point of this thread, but I really want to know why you think the iPad 10 is gimped in comparison to the iPad 9. It’s better in every respect. It’s a bit pricey, agreed. But gimped? Explain. Surely you’re not using the usb2 speed as your major talking point as others are? It’s unchanged for its predecessor speed wise, so gimped isn’t really a relevant word there. No, it's just a minor upgrade and shouldn't be compared to the 3 as the M2 is still crazy fast. The iPad 10 on the other hand, is the worst iPad given how much Apple gimped to to make it very unappealing and the worst value iPad besides the iPad 3.
Why would you need to get it replaced within 6 months? 🙄
it's gimped comapred to the Air (even the 4), which has the same design, not the the 9, and given the new price point, the comparison with the air seems fairIt’s besides the point of this thread, but I really want to know why you think the iPad 10 is gimped in comparison to the iPad 9. It's a terrible iPad since you can get an iPad Air 5th generation with way more features when on sale, only a little bit more than the iPad 10. What makes it terrible is the lack of a laminated display in 2022, still using Apple Pencil 1, gimped wifi and USB transfer speeds, especially at a price where a little more, you can get an iPad Air 5 with better features and faster. Even so, an Air 4 would be a better value than the iPad 10.It’s besides the point of this thread, but I really want to know why you think the iPad 10 is gimped in comparison to the iPad 9. Its main weakness to the 9 is simply worse value. Then there's the pencil dongle situation, no headphone jack. It’s besides the point of this thread, but I really want to know why you think the iPad 10 is gimped in comparison to the iPad 9. The iPad 3 was released in 2012 and cannot be compared to the M2 iPad Pro. If you are upgrading from a 2012 iPad I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Yes, I probably missed the point of the weak sarcastic joke.I think you entirely missed the point. The iPad 3 was superseded by the iPad 4 just a few months after its release.
I sold my iPad 3 (at a loss, of course) to buy the much better iPad 4, so I understand the OP's concern.
I just ordered the M2 iPad Pro 11", and will be annoyed if a new model is released with updated screen technology and a new pencil (that I had hoped would have been in the M2 release) six months from now.

Ah, classic Seinfeld line from the dentist episode. Not sure it really works well here, but still a funny scene. Thanks for the flashback.Yes, I probably missed the point of the weak sarcastic joke.
I was not offended as an Apple customer, but as a comedian.
I guess I don’t get why it’s feasible to say it’s gimped when comparing it to a higher end model. Of course it is. So was the 9th gen.it's gimped comapred to the Air (even the 4), which has the same design, not the the 9, and given the new price point, the comparison with the air seems fair
Regardless as to its validity in existing - it’s the base model so of course it’s a lesser iPad than the higher end of the line. I find it hard to pick a base model, then compare it to the mid tier, and then accuse it of being gimped in comparison. I mean, yeah. The iPad 10 is a horrific value and easily the worst iPad given the price increase over the 9th gen and basically being a gimped iPad Air 4.
dont worry about it...we dont even know if in 2023 we will have another ipad proI am worried investing in M2 and having it replaced in 6 months - I was an early adopter of IPad 3 and was disappointed - any thoughts - thanks
I don't consider it the base model at this point, the base model is still the 9, this one is filling a price gap, just like the air did. When the 9 is retired this will be the actual base model, and at that point the price might change too. It's more than fair, at this point to compared it to the air, with it's current prices, rather than to the 9I guess I don’t get why it’s feasible to say it’s gimped when comparing it to a higher end model. It kind of is a stop gap, like the A12Z pro was, but new pros are not expected before 2024 (again excluding potential larger models) so if that's your main worry, there is that...My apologies I’m a first time poster. It was my intent to state the iPad 3 was a short-lived iPad with an iPad 4 coming out only 212 days later with a much better spec. It seems to me that the iPad Pro M2 is a stop gap but I might be wrong. Thanks for all the feedback. Sorry again for the confusion.
Not at all, if anything probably the opposite - the next iPad could be the iPad 3 (But even that is highly unlikely.) iPad 3 had an amazing new display…and no ability to drive it properly as the GPU was underpowered.I am worried investing in M2 and having it replaced in 6 months - I was an early adopter of IPad 3 and was disappointed - any thoughts - thanks
