Does the iPhone 17 Pro have a battery that’s protected by steel to protect it?

And what are the risks of it getting damaged by getting the screen replaced by Apple?

I know everything is accessible by Apple, but I’m wondering if it’s risky having them replace a screen and if anything else can get damaged?

Are you US based?

If you are, your question is insane. You do realize that Apple designed and made your iPhone right? They developed the process and procedures to repair their products and they train their people how to do it. And IF, those people screw up, you do realize that Apple makes good on it right?

And to top it all off, any repair/replacement is covered by a 30 day warranty. Tell me you knew that.

I believe there are teardown videos on youtube that you can watch. It shows you right there.

No need to worry if Apple are doing the repair.

They don’t use a crowbar to remove the damaged screen!
I’m in the US and going to an official Apple Store.

Sorry if that was a dumb question, but I have no idea how they just replace the screen (and not the phone).

I’m worried about the battery inside getting damaged, but you’re saying that’s not risky?

And does the battery on the iPhone 17 Pro have steel around it protecting it? I thought it was reinforced?

The battery is not wrapped in steel to the point it would be hard to damage. Think of it as wrapped in a thin foil at best.

Why are you worried?

If Apple damages the battery do you believe they would not then replace the damaged battery? Why would they not? Aside from just being good customer service, they could potentially be sued for that.

And quite frankly if you're possibly worried about fire, it isn't your store that'd be burning. And they'd replace your phone in that case. I just don't see why this is bothering you.

Yep. It's in a puncture resistant envelope that expands and contracts with the battery.

For the record, @ghsDUDE, if Apple believes there is a potential risk of battery damage they will send the device to a special facility that Apple owns and operates. This facility is designed to handle battery fires and is equipped with fire suppression systems and highly trained staff that deal with this sort of thing all day, every day.

I know this because on my fourth replacement of an iPhone 5 for battery swelling it was explained to me.

Thats a very good explanation. Battery is better protected this year in PRO models

My wife has had one phone accidentally destroyed by Apple when the battery was replaced (6s+ I believe). It was promptly replaced with a new phone and an apology by Apple.

We got my wife’s 15 Pro Max changed recently. They told us to come back in 45 mins - phone was indistinguishable from before we turned it in with a brand new battery.

I went in for a screen replacement once (iPhone 6+) and for whatever reason they wanted to install iOS 9 on it. And they couldn't get it installed on my phone.

So, they replaced the entire phone with one that had iOS 9 on it and only charged me for the screen repair.
