is iphone 3gs jailbreak-able?

Yes. Depending on the production week, however, your phone may have a newer installed Boot Rom that either removes the ability to jailbreak (or requires a tethered jailbreak - meaning every time you reboot you have to rerun blackra1n). Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
 
Yes, that's correct.
All newer batches come with the latest bootloader.
At the moment they are tethered jb but maybe in the future will be an easier solution.

ugh dont tell me they did this to the 3G to? did they?

i havent got one yet though, planning on getting an iphone this month
 
^ The first poster pretty much explained it. A tethered jailbreak is essentially jailbreaking your phone, but if you ever have to turn it off, reset it, or the battery dies, you will need to have a pc and blackra1n ready to go. It will pretty much put your phone into recovery mode and until you can blackra1n again, it will be unusable.
