..waiting for your first iMac to arrive?

Got the DHL tracking window open and can see it's about 2 hours away...ohhhhhh ahhhhhhhh

Been waiting since February to get a 2011 iMac but I have given up waiting, so yesterday i came up with a cunning Plan,

I bought a 2nd hand 21.5 Inch 2010 iMac and got it shipped from The Uk To here in Spain overnight £60 shipping which i split with the seller..bargain.

I've justified this to myself as a great idea as Follows.

If I bought a new 27 inch iMac when they are released and didn't like it and want to go back to a PC I'll have wasted almost £2000/€2000 (I know i could sell it again but I'd still lose some money)

I'll now know if i need a 27inch or if the 21.5 is good enough for what i do.

I won't have to rush out and try to get an iMac on the first day of release..I can wait till they are in the local stores and buy at my leisure.

I'll have learned how to drive OSX in an old cluncker before i risk driving a Sports car!

I have something I can pass to my wife or daughter when i upgrade.

The only point you made that makes any sense is your last one. If you didnt like the imac after buying the new one you could just return it for a full refund. No money lost.

I thought it was only 14 days you could do that for? Surely it takes longer than that to master the new software..

It's taken me 27 years to work out that I can't get on with my wife!

Well, the 21.5 mid-10 iMac definitly isn't an "old cluncker", its still a very fast Mac, even without "Sandy Bridge". It might serve you well for years performancewise, if the screen size is okay for you.

Just have fun with your new Mac and don't think about "ifs" and "woulds" all the time!

I'd pretty much worked my way around OS X within the space of a week when I made the jump in January, unless you're getting your Mac for some specific software that needs to be properly worked with to be understood, you'll get your head around whether or not you like OS X long before the return period ends.

When I first used OS X I was sold within 2 minutes but then again, I'm a sucker for tiny improvements. The smallest detail can convince me.
