I'm an 18 year old student that's going to enter college in the fall. I already own an iPhone, iMac, and MacBook Pro to give you some background info. The iPad really tempts me based on the fact that I can download all of my college books in eBook format and save money and only have to carry the iPad around VS. all of the books individually. With all the Apple products I have already would it be stupid for me to purchase a 16GB iPad?

It depends on if you think a multi-touch screen larger than an iPod touch will be useful.

I look at documents and diagrams all of the time and prefer the iPad because I can zoom and pan easily. Reading PDFs and looking at schematics was the only reason I bought it and it is service that purpose nicely.

Without a purpose, it will only collect dust.

I'd buy it for the eBook reading capabilities so I don't have to carry around college books so I think it'll serve my purposes well :D

Did you look into this and you know that you'll be able to get all of your books to be able to read in iBooks?

Did anyone apart from me buy an iPad without the express consent of forum members? Every other thread seems to be someone asking if they should buy one or not.

Don't moan, i was just wondering.

I think you've already made your decision.

I went to one forum back in March and most of them said it was worthless. That was enough for me to buy it. A big outcry on how bad something is, tells me the opposite - must be pretty good.

I made it through 4 years of college, 2 years of a master's program and 4 years of a doctoral program without a "cell" phone or a computer of any sort.

Oh and no video games. No cable or satellite TV. No ipod or portable music of any type. No camera. No movies of any type to watch at home.

Damn kids these days ;)
