I'm thinking bout making the switch from my iphone 7 to a pixel. iOS 10 has angered me can't jailbreak since im on 10.2. Im sick and tired of this cat an mouse chase so I want something more accessible OS wise.

I figure the pure android experience of the Pixel would be my best bet.

Is it easy to root the pixel on the latest firmware? any advice?

Easy peasy :) These are still basically Nexus phones, meaning there are designed and meant to be rooted right out of the box. I have owned six of the Nexus phones over the years, every one of them, I rooted right out of the box with the plastic wrap still on them. If I owned a Pixel XL, I would root it within the first 5 minutes, and install a good ROM within the first couple of days.

For videos, Max Lee is just the best, easy step by step guide to follow;

And his website written version to read while you watch the video too;

This is another guy I follow, and makes easy to follow videos;

Thanks!! Very helpful post, I've subscribed to both the channels you recommended on youtube. Planning to order the pixel over the weekend so hopefully rooting goes smoothly.

If you so some checking, there may even be an application to run on a computer that will do all the work for you.

I used an app last year that took my Nexus 4 and nexus 7 tablet, both running 5.1.1. and automatically downgraded them to KitKat and then unlocked the bootloader and then rooted them. Took about 30 minutes each because it downloads everything it needs to do the tasks and then runs them one by one. I think it was called Nexus Root Toolkit.

I'm sure they'll do something with the Pixel. I did review the rooting process and it did seem pretty easy.

Glad to see Google has maintained ease of rooting, but also surprised at the same time, given the implications it has for piracy and so on (especially in-app purchases).

Preventing root, will not affect side loading pirated and/or modified apps.
