is it just me who hates the way safari deals with saving passwords-pop up boxes!

its something that really does my nut in.

you go to log into a website that you havent used for ages. you think you remember the user name and password, you put it in, press continue, up pops apple asking if you want to save the password, but beneath it you can see youve got the password wrong. so you have to click not now. and then try again, and again it pops up. and invariably youve 5 user names and 5 passwrods in your head so this starts to really irritate so at some stage you click 'dont ask' and you can guarantee that this time the bloody password works and now you havent saved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why isnt safari intelligent enough to wait til youve got the password correct before asking you if you want to save it, or to open a non intrusive window beside the web page so you can leave it there until you get the password right and then press save.

or even just automatically save it and overwrite it without asking me anything!!!!

its the most annoying thing in all of my mac usage. am i over reacting?​

No, you are not overreacting, although I didn't see this before.
Internet Explorer 11 does this thing much better than Safari. Everything including this window will stay at the bottom.
If possible, you can keep that window open, and go ahead for multiple retry. Then, use the successful one to click save.

But IE 11 auto save feature works way worse than before. In this matter, Safari is better than IE 11.

This makes more sense, and yes, IE does this more reasonably. However, its not something that you have to deal with all the time. Once you save the password ones, it stays in your keychain. Or are you trying to log into a different new-old website every day?

well no, thats the problem, when it takes more than 2 or 3 attempts to remember you get so that you click dont ask so when you get the password right it doesnt save it and once you are past that bit its too late.

You can check in Safari < preferences < passwords check "show passwords for selected sites" and you should be able to see your password before you try to login.
