...does the 24" iMac's display look way better than the 20" not just because of size. It looks crisper, vivid and brighter whilst the 20" looks washed out, less vivid and not as bright.

I thought this was an isolated incident but the story is the same in all three Apple stores i've been to.

Did you make sure the brightness was set similarly on all of them and that they were all using an appropriate color profile? I would by no means consider the 20" to be dim or washed out in the least... if it were any brighter I would need sunglasses.

I'm not sure, I always feel the larger screens seem nicer perhaps because there's more to oggle at. :)

Actually, you might not be crazy. I think if you check out the apple specs, the 24" is indeed brighter and has a higher contrast ratio. dont quote me though!

Yeah both were at the same brightness level and using the same profile.....even the same wallpaper
