Hello,
I got a new M1 max macbook pro in November as soon as they were available (for my music studio).

I'll spare you the details, but I have a Thunderbolt audio interface that requires the macbook to be attached to the magsafe power in the wall, not running on the battery.

When I shut down the macbook and remove the magsafe, macbook restarts. Is this your experience as well? I just find that so odd. I will say i called apple support and they said they changed how startup occurs in 2016 and said this is as intended, but I don't see how this helps. I did all this searching and found a lot about 'SMC reset' but apple said don't do that. ?

Nope. It should be the other way around. That’s Monterey for ya.
It’s a bug and you better don’t believe Apples gonna fix it anytime soon.

Thank you - I suspected I wasn't going crazy - it makes no sense for a computer that is off to start up if you remove the magsafe power to say, I don't know, pack for a trip lol. I'm just worried about wear and tear from this over time. I did pay over $5000 for this thing.

I guess I'll call applecare (again) and at least ask them to document it or hear me out instead of telling me that this has been the intended behavior since 2016
