My kid asked me and I honestly dont know. I'm assuming probably not. Thanks.

It’s probably not the best idea, but I doubt it’ll break it after only one or two presses.

The main thing would be the touchID stuff, rather than the button itself.

I do this all the time. I've wondered this myself - no issues in the month that I've had the ipad pro 12.9 so far....

I do it often. I was just thinking again today how I'd like to just be able to touch the home button with my pencil instead of having to press it.

I haven't had any issues yet.

I love the ghostly Assistive Touch button to control many things on my iPad. If you include the “Home” button feature, no problem tapping it with the pencil and then you don’t have to hit the physical home button.

If I had to, I’d flip the pencil around and press with the other end, just in case it did start to squish the tip. Course I’m left handed and the home button is on the left :)

If you activate Assistive Touch (under Settings > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch), you can set up a virtual button that you can place anywhere on the screen that allows you to control specific commands that you specify. I’ve attached a screenshot that includes the virtual Home button. I use this constantly!
