On the dev's Twitter page for SwipeNav this was posted with accompanying convo saying that the new update (.8) fixed an issue where it didn't work in Messages, yet in Cydia all I see is that my current version .7 is up to date. I'm confused!! I want this tweak to work so bad in Messages. Could it be exclusive to newer hardware and only work on the 5/5S? I have the 4S but I would think the software is all that matters.

do you have the developer's repo added. looks like it's on his private repo and not bigboss or whatever default repo it's hosted on

If the developer has his own repo, add it in Cydia to see if he has a beta or newer version that has not been added to the primary Cydia repos yet (Google is your friend on how to add a repo to Cydia).
Or a newer version might might be on GitHub (again, Google is your friend)

I did quite a bit of Googling. I found his repo but can't find any instructions on how to add it Cydia.

Nevermind, found it! It says it's not a valid url though.

So I have added every source with his name on it and still nothing. I didn't see the tweak in his repositories though. Could it be the hardware?

what were the repo names you tried?

it's nothing to do with hardware

either
1. wrong url
2. repo is currently down
3. repo is taken down

have you tried this url? devbug.me/apt

Holy **** it worked!!! Thank you so much man! You have no idea how ecstatic I am.

How did you know what the url was? I had tried several devbug.me URLs but none of them added the update.

Anyway, god that was a pain in the ass waiting that whole time for him to update it. My most used tweak by far in my most used app. My JB experience is now complete! I owe you big time.

Also, why didnt the update appear in Cydia without adding his repo?

i knew it because i had added his repo before (just didn't remember off the top of my head, i have a document of all the sources I've added before)

because the update was hosted on his repo. the update has probably been pushed to one of the default repos but it generally takes several hours to a few days for it to get processed

it's as if you're asking why a certain video is on vimeo for example but not on youtube

it's because that video is hosted on vimeo's servers, not on youtube's servers

Oh ok, gotcha. So this update was just released?

most likely if you said it was just tweeted about (or just look at the tweet convo date)

just curious but did the update fix it to work in messages? just hear you mentioning about it so often so i'm curious

Yes! Finally, I'm somewhat traumatized from this whole ordeal lol.

Honestly, this is not really anything out of the ordinary.
Developers work on newer versions of their tweaks and many of the developers make them available on their personal or beta repos for others to try/test.
Once they are convinced the newer version doesn't have any major issues, they submit it to bigger Cydia repos for general release. It can take from 2 hours to 2 days for it to be available on the big Cydia repos after it has been submitted.

Almost every developer has a repo they use to host their own tweaks prior to them being available on the Cydia default repos.

As far as searching for developer's personal or beta repos - well that is pretty simple using Google and jailbreaking sites as reference.
