If you back up your phone (right click on your iPhone in iTunes), then you create a custom 2.1 firmware in the latest pwnagetool, put your phone into DFU mode, option-click Restore button in iTunes, choose your custom FW that you created with pwnagetool, then after that, RESTORE FROM BACKUP, which will copy all your data (app data or game stats, contacts, settings, notes, et cetera).

That is the simplest way to do it, although there are other ways as well.

thx just did a backup today hopefully it'll recognize the backup file after JB bc sometimes it doesnt work

I am not sure what I did wrong. I had a jailbroken 2.0.2, did a backup before I jailbroke to 2.1.

After restoring from the custom firmware, and performed a restore from the latest backup. I went to Spore, and lost my creature. It's not a big deal, but I was on Level 11. Oh well...

One thing that was different was that iTunes 8 refused to do a restore when the phone was in DFU mode. I had to do a restore in normal mode, and I'm not sure if that made a difference.
