The reason im asking is pretty simple : I went to my local best buy today to check out the macbook pro. I noticed the computer was running windows so I asked the salesperson if i could switch it back to OSX . He said that would not be possible since they completely deleted OS X from the system and it can only run windows now... Is this even possible?

It is possible and you don't need Boot Camp to do it. All Boot Camp is, is a glorified partitioner (well, the drivers are the key). Once you have the drivers, you could quit out of boot camp and install XP and erase and reformat the entire drive as NTSF.
The BIOS compatibility in EFI comes from the firmware update, which is required to run Boot Camp, which is a setup assistant that burns a drivers CD and partitions your drive. You only need the firmware update to run Windows, but Apple won't tell you that 
You can sill reinstall OSX on a computer even after its been deleted.
Oh and BTW dont listen to anything the people at bestbuy say, especially about macs. Most of the people who work there know very little about computers, this doesnt apply to everyone working at bestbuy (but most of them)
I went into one bestbuy looking for a bluetooth mouse and my dad asked one of the sales people "Do you guys have any bluetooth mice for mac's", he promptly said "Macs arent compatible with bluetooth". Trying not to laugh in the guys face I left since they didint even have Bluetooth mice anyway, and I picked up a MX1000 somewhere else.
I wonder when apple will start getting support calls from people who installed windows on their computers and deleted OSX and then got a virus.

I wonder if Apple knows about this... seems like something they would highly frown upon. Then again being Best Buy it could be an ignorant salesperson.

I wonder if Apple are going to have to change their Authorized Reseller agreements now... Something like you have to have at least x% of your machines running OS X, or we'll yank your status. considering how the intel macs are now just glorified PCs made by apple, i dont know why you'd be screwing yourself over temporarily buying an intel mac just to run only windows (cause, apple makes bootcamp, and until MS releases an EFI compatible version of Windows, you're relying on Apple). also, it would just be easier and cheaper to build something similar.Laser47 said:

Also, your question would be better if it was just simply "do you guys have any bluetooth mice?", cause unlike keyboards (where the only difference tends to be the windows/apple key), it doesnt matter with mice usually (unless you mean drivers, in that case either jsut use usb overdrive or bug the manufacturer for one). Last time I was at best buy looking to play around with their mice before buying one online, i think they did have the mx1000, but they didn't have the g7 which was the one i wanted to play around with. Nevertheless, i purchased a G7, sorta happy with it, great mouse, sucky that it doesn't have enough buttons.

I once overheard a conversation with a salesperson in Australia that went like this... "no we don't deal with Macs here, they're too unreliable. If you connect to the internet on a mac you will be full of viruses in 4 minutes".

Actually, I'm one of I believe many contemplating buying a Mac strictly for Windows use and IMO it does make a lot of sense, at least when most of the current driver issues become resolved...FF_productions said:

As for desktops, I can see a lot of reasons why a Windows user would prefer an iMac (which isn't terribly expensive) over a standard PC desktop. Again, like with the MBP it's hard to find a PC equivalent to the iMac in terms of design...
I am a WinXP user and I bought a MacBook Pro to just run windows on. I won't delete OS X because its cool to play with and I do like to learn new things, but I will primarily using WinXP (99% of the time). I have always said Apple has the nicest looking notebooks.
