Is it possible to delete a partition in an external HD, to make the main exFAT partition larger

The HD is in 2 partitions, one exFAT (FAMILY), other smaller MAC OS Extended (Journaled Encrypted). l want to delete the smaller latter partition (JEDI). please tell me if I erase the JEDI partition, will the exFAT partition just get bigger leaving all the files intact? Because when I attempt to erase the JEDI partition, it doesn't give the exFAT option, the partition that is same as the large exFAT partition (FAMILY).

You have a couple roadblocks here.

First, you cannot resize or delete Jedi in Disk Utility, because it is encrypted. If you want to ditch Jedi, run the command below in Terminal. That will wipe Jedi then you can add whatever you want into that empty space.

diskutil cs delete JEDI

Killing Jedi like this will not erase Family. But the problem is, ExFAT is not resizable, so there is no way to expand Family.

If your goal is to have one large Family partition, you will need to remove Jedi like I described, then copy the data off from Family to another drive, then erase the while disk and add back one large Family ExFAT volume. Then copy your data back.
