As per the title. I like the changing wallpapers specifically the new "light/dark" mode wallpaper section in Big Sur, but the wallpaper doesn't change unless i'm in AUTO mode for overall light/dark mode theme in macos.

Is it possible to have the light/dark wallpaper section change without having the whole OS transition? Maybe through some terminal hack or something?

Thanks!

There's this AppleScript you can tinker with? https://github.com/pipwerks/OS-X-Wallpaper-Changer

Or perhaps this: https://github.com/n3PH1lim/Mojave-Dynamic-Wallpaper

If I'm totally misreading your requirement then please accept my apology.

You can have wallpapers change but your OS theme setting remains Light or Dark.. that's what I went with.

Try this search query on GitHub: https://github.com/search?q=macos+wallpaper+changer&type=Repositories

Of course, I forgot to actually comprehend your request - the default wallpapers that uses the Dynamic Wallpaper fiddly-bob technology will have to be individually extracted - or make your own to put in a designated time of day.

Someone more clever than me will approach your request/question

Another alternative would be to just grab the light and dark wallpapers and make your own dynamic one using an app or site. Or just grab one that someone else already created at https://dynamicwallpaper.club. I'm sure there are other similar sites out there, this is just the first one I found. There are a few of the Big Sur Graphic (abstract) ones here. I tried them all and they seemed to work. I found that each one changed at a different times so you may need to try them all to see which one you prefer. Be sure to read the Docs tab to learn how to set them as your dynamic wallpaper.
