Is it possible to have iphone on AT&T without them knowing? What i mean is can I unlock an iphone and keep it on AT&T without having to pay for the data plan?

The 2G I think you can, but the 3G I'm not sure. But they'll KNOW you have an iPhone.

They may not do anything to your specific account, but the WILL know simply because of your phone's IMEI number. You can pop a GoPhone SIM into an unlocked iPhone, log into AT&T online a few seconds later and see pictures of an iPhone on your account page. It's pretty eerie.

tmobile does the same thing. What ever phone your SIM goes in, they know.
ps: tmobile doesnt have a pic of an iPhone. would be nice tho

no, I have an unlocked iPhone on AT&T using their prepaid Pay as you Go (GoPhone) plan and once I had called and they said that they knew I had an iPhone and that I wasn't on an official iPhone plan but that she wouldn't do anything about it.
