I am trying to lengthen the vibrate for receiving text messages. Instead of that wimpy tenth of a second, hopefully about a second in length.

Have you jailbroken and installed SSH? If so, SSH into your phone and find the file:

/System/Library/Frameworks/Celestial.framework/SystemSoundVibrationPatterns.plist

Open it up, in Root > Default, change the "OnDuration" number to whatever you want (1.000000) is 1 second i think, but just try out numbers till you find a length you like.

Reboot and it should of changed.

My WiFi is broken ATM, waiting on a phone replacement. Can I do it with iPhone PC Suite?

Not sure about that, sorry! Never done it on a PC! As long as you can browse the file system with it then I don't see why not!

PS - You can turn up the intensity of the vibrate in addition to the length!

how on pc

so how do you do edit plists on windows? i tried pc suite and i dont know if it works for 1.1.4. i cant edit the vibration plists. any help?

Open the file using PC Suite (it works with 1.1.4) by double-clicking the file. Make your changes and save file as onto your hard drive. Then use PC Suite to copy the files back off your hard drive and onto the phone, overwriting current files. Reboot phone, and presto you're good to go.

am i missing something? my iphone is jailbreaked. i used iphone suite. and when i go to the finder to look for the plist, it just shows a bunch of folders for some applications i installed. is there a way to navigate to that folder indicated previously? the folders may be hidden or i just cant navigate to that folder through the finder. i even tried installing mobilefinder on my phone and tried enabling showing hidden folders but that did not affect iphone pc suite. thanks

It worked using iPhone PC Suite. Awesome, thanks!

Good, glad to help! :D
