Instead of getting monthly plan for iPad, would it be possible to buy a normal pay as you go Internet dongle, then cut the sim card down using a cutting tool (as can be found on ebay.co.uk by searching for Item number: 10563347843)

I don't know if I picked this up properly, but although there is no contract for the sim, just a rolling contract that can be cancelled at any time, if you were to only use the 3G for 1 day of the month do you still need to pay for the full month? If so I think PAYG would be a better option.???

Orange offer PAYG on their iPad plan.

Alternatively, both Orange and O2 offer single day tariffs.

I travel quite a lot and this is what I do. I buy a local PAYG sim card, cut it down, put it in my phone to activate it and top it up then take it out, put it in the iPAD and away you go. When you need to top it up again you will need to put it back in a phone to dial in the top up code. Don't forget to enter the APN of the local sim card service.

Just a normal sim card? Or does it need to be set up for data?
