Hey there,

i am having an iPad 2 and iPhone 4 both running the iOS 5 GM. I am currently planning on installing 10.7.2 Gold Master (this will most probably be the final version thats coming out on the 12th, right?).

Will i be able to transfer my existing MobileMe account to iCloud right now without any issues when i am no developer? And will there be any more wipes of user data before the 12th?

Thank you!

Mal

You're a non-Developer, but with the Developer releases installed, and you're wanting even more stuff you're not supposed to have? Nope.

Sorry, it's only for developers right now. You've only got a few days to wait, though, so just suck it up and wait it out like the rest of us.

Hey Mal,

first of all thanks but i am just wondering as i can log in on me.com/move without any problem and continue up to the point where it says "move to iCloud". From then on it would only take 5 Minutes for the transfer to be completed. So... i am still wondering if it is technically possible regardless of me being supposed to have it or not.

I'm not a dev and I made the transfer a number of weeks ago. As I don't yet use my me.com for emails I'm not borrowed about wipes.

Hey,

I'm also a non dev and installed iOS 5 GM early. I was able to transfer my existing MobileMe account which was expired, to iCloud last night. I was not able to get it working in Lion's mail.app though, does anyone know what you need to do to get that working correctly?

Seems to work now HOWEVER under requirements it says you need:
Mac OS X 10.7.2 seed and iCloud for OS X Lion Beta 7

Will transition anyway. See attachment.

Edit: Hmm, entering my MobileMe details into 5.0GM seed settings app crashes as it verifies.

A couple of guys from a German community moved as well and seem to not have any issues whatsoever.. Have you tried restarting your iOS device and kill the settings app manually? Is mail working on 10.7.2?

I don't have 10.7.2 only normal public seeds.

My iTunes Apple ID works great. But I wish my MobileMe to be my iCloud account as everything is linked to that and my email etc.
Frustrating and yes I have manually quit settings via the task bar and also hold power button then home button and a full restart of the phone.

Maybe, be better in 4 days :) I'll try again later as my account logs in fine on iCloud.com

Edit: Going into MobileMe settings on GM seed also crashes. So can't try to remove those details before entering iCloud details. Don't want to restore phone completely as too many app data settings etc.

Mh maybe you should consider a restore as MobileMe settings are working flawlessly over here... I heard from many people that iCloud is live for them on their gm as well.

No need did it. Took me several attempts.

Solution:
1. Go to mail and then you currently added @me.com account - quickly scroll to bottom and delete. This will delete. If app crashes repeat until it works.
2. Add iCloud account for @me.com and it works perfectly.

:)

So if your @me.com doesn't work for iCloud and crashes, just try to delete the current @me.com settings from the phone.

Edit: there is a partially confusing message - when you add your old @me.com an alert comes up suggesting you create a brand new @me.com just hit okay and it uses your old one.

Good to hear :) So everything is working now? What about Push mail on your iPhone? I read that those are not working as promised right now.

Can you still access your mails with 10.7.1?

Yeah, everything's good apart from the 28 hours to backup to iCloud! Damn maximum 40Kb/s upload speed for 2.6GB

Emails work fine on Mac 10.7.1 (push)
Emails on iPhone don't seem to be using push

Everything does work fine but unless you have already installed 5.0GM to your i-devices and 10.7.2 GM on your MacOS devices I'd wait.

Now, I DID install 5.0 GM on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 and they work great, I got 10.7.2 GM flawlessly on my MBA but my iMac (2010) died a horrible death on the GM requiring a reload of the OS. So for right now (after using /move as above) I can access everything on all the devices BUT the iMac, which doesn't access calendars or syncing but does still access the mail just fine using the IMAP serves directed @ mac.com. I'm going to just let the iMac stay on 10.7.0 until Wednesday and just not have the calendars work on the iMac until then.

There have been some weird delays in pushing email from iCloud over the last few days (won't see any email for a few hours then suddenly 6 or 7 will appear a few hours old. Not sure what to think about that yet as MobileMe was doing the same thing intermittently recently. I hope the 12th doesn't make a mess of it with the huge number of people going to /move then!

Shouldn't matter to not have 10.7.2 as thats just really to add your computer to iCloud, 5.0 is all about no PC/Mac so that's why I went ahead.

Yeah, just hope push to iPhone is sorted rapidly!

Edit: oo push just worked!

Except it messes up shared calendars, but not the end of the world, just need to add/change stuff and refer only to iOS devices for next few days.
