iPad Is it possible to restore iOS 12 backup on iOS 13 public beta?

I have a spare iPad Air 2 lying about on 12.4 and I wanted to try out iOS 13 on it before putting it on my Pro 12.9. But the storage is almost full so there is no space to install.

Can I format the iPad, install iOS 13 PB on it and then restore an iOS 12 backup to it?

Yes you can. You can always restore a backup of a previous iOS.
