Is it possible to send location data via iMessage?

One of the reviews said that it's possible to send location data via iMessage similar to how Facebook Messenger works. However, I don't see any such option to add my location data. How does one do it?

You do it though maps. It sends a txt. If iMessage is available it'll send as one!

Bingo! You're right!

However, I'm disappointed that Apple didn't made this process easier and more seamless. I should be able to send it from iMessage rather than just from Maps.
