I'm thinking that this could be a big plus for internet radio and Itunes listening, where I'd be able to listen with the tv display switched off. Does using the HDMI out disable the RCA outs, or can both outputs work at the same time?
Don't know about RCA...but I can tell you that both optical-audio and HDMI-carried audio are working simultaneously on my unit. Leads me to believe that it will work in your case.
SO you don't use your receiver/stereo normally for TV audio? I mean, I can always turn off my TV if I wanted to as the audio always goes through my receiver...not that I ever do.
Thanks! To answer your question, I'm not using an HDMI receiver in the room the ATV would go in, so my current setup is that all video sources go into the tv, with Audio Out running from the display to my amp's input. A bit primitive, yes.
I use my AppleTV with a 2-zone receiver. The second zone requires an analog input. So, I use HDMI for zone 1 (living room) and RCA (analog) for zone 2. Works great.
