Is it possible to snap a pic with iPhone and it instantly appears on Mac?

I am trying to take a portait and want to snap a pic remotely using my Apple Watch then have it instantaneously and I mean instantaneously appear on the MacBook Air that is connected to the iPhone XS via USB-C | Lightning cable.

My goal is to snap a pic then immediately look at it on the screen of the Mac then make a minor adjustment to my smile then quickly snap another pic and have this next portrait immediately pop up on the screen of the Mac. It’s a really quick process where you take many pictures in a short period of time no more than one or two or maybe three minutes but three minutes is pushing it a little. Have you ever tried to hold the perfect smile and make your eyes big for three minutes straight? You should try it sometime because it’s not easy and this self portrait project I’ve been working on lately has given me a new found respect for actors and models. But I digress.

This is my first post on these forums so I hope ya’ll go easy on me. Thanks for reading. A full list of my gear can be found in my profile except I can’t figure out the model number of my gen one Apple Watch Sport but I’ll add that when I figure it out.

There's many ways to do that and is even easier if you have a Mac

1. Turn on Photo Stream or iCloud on both your Mac and iPhone - when you take a photo, it will show up in your photos library. With iCloud enabled your edits on the iPhone should reflect on the Mac
2. Dropbox - take a photo and it will automatically upload and sync to your Mac if you have dropbox installed on it too
3. OneDrive - same as dropbox
4. Amazon Drive - same as dropbox and onedrive
5. Google Photos - automatically backs up on your phone - login to any computer and you will see your photos synced on there.

Why not just take a bunch of picture at once. I don't think there is a way to tether an iPhone. At least not with the Photos app.

Ok so none of the cloud solutions that @soulreaver99 mentions will work because it is too slow even over my insane fast AT&T Fiber to the home connection. When I say that I want the photo to instantly appear I mean like in the time it takes to snap your fingers.

Your only option that might work is to buy software like Capture One. I’m not sure if it can tether an iPhone.

An iPhone 11 or 12MP file size is 2.6MB. If it doesn’t upload instantly in your AT&T fiber connection then something is wrong.

Ok now this is more of what I'm looking for it's just that I don't think you can use an iPhone as your camera in this set up but I've been wanting to get a real camera anyways even though you can't argue with the ability to adjust the focus of the backdrop after you take the picture on the iPhone XS and later. Now that's for real. And I'm serious ya'll like portrait mode just shows the best you and I don't know how it does it.

I can't say for sure it will work now but I've tried it before with previous versions. Image Capture on your Mac you can try. Connect you phone to Mac and open Image Capture and try.

You can do the same with any camera. Or use Lightroom.

You should be able to do this wirelessly using Continuity in whatever app you're using to edit the photos. Preview, Photoshop, and I'm sure others directly support this under File -> Import from iPhone. More info: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209037
