Is it possible to "suspend" iMessages? And I don't mean turning them off....

Sometimes I just need a break from everyone. I will sign-out of iMessages on all of my devices, except my phone. In my experience, things get really hairy when you turn off iMessages from your phone number.

I basically just want it so other iOS users don't see that messages are delivering... Then when I'm ready, I can turn everything back on and the messages will deliver at that time.

The only way I can achieve what I'm asking is putting the phone in airplane mode, but sometimes I'd like to use it for other things.
Unfortunately there is no way to turn off cellular data for messages.

I know the answer will probably be "no" on this one, but does anyone have creative ideas?

Turn off delivery receipts. Then no one will know they've ever been delivered.

Simple solution: During the time(s) during the day that you don’t want to be disturbed, put your phone in DND and set it up so that only the people you want to be able to get in contact with you, will be able to during that time. Other than that, don’t interact at all with your phone during your personal DND.

It still says "delivered" on the messages. and I think you mean "read" receipts.

Sorry yes, but delivered really doesn't mean much. And it by no means indicates they've been read.

I work on the basis that a reply means something, delivered is the most basic if all statuses.
