Say I jailbroke my iPhone 3G on my friends itunes library and I went back home to sync to my computer. Would I loose the jailbreak?

I thought when you re-sync, it erases/restores the device which would extract the software on it?

It doesn't erase the firmware, but you'd be losing whatever offical apps/music you synced off of the other iTunes. The phone would still be jailbroken however and you would still have your Cydia/Installer apps.

check it

there is an app in cydia called "swap tunes" that will allow you to sync with 2 itunes at the same time.

Oh okay, thanks for the quick response.

This was killing me because I hadn't upgraded to iTunes 8 and I knew if I did I couldn't re-jailbreak again because of the barrier it has (I hear you can bypass it now).

So what I was going to do was keep a complete clone of my HD with itunes 7 on my other drive and jailbreak from that if I ever had to restore. Then I would just re sync with my current drive.

I guess I can still do that now without worrying.

It is actually quite possible to sync on two different systems. I created my pwn on a home macbook air, yet I sync on both the home mac and my office laptop (running windows). You do not lose any official apps that you've downloaded. Your music settings will sync to whatever itunes has within it, but I successfully used Itunesswap to switch back and forth..

I don't think I have to worry about this anymore seeming as though iTunes 8 with sync and restore with pwned firmware.
