is it possible to use any O2 sim card in an iphone?

Hi I'm thinking about switching over to 02, but i already have a 3g iphone so i was going to get a sim only deal. But what i would like to know is if it would work in a jailbroken iphone 3g without a turbosim?

If it is factory unlocked, like the one's here in South Africa are, it will work.

Well, in the UK, iPhones are exclusive to O2. So, logically, an O2 SIM should work?
