I know that there are multiple accessories that convert the MacBook's mini DVI port to VGA and whatnot, but I'm not too sure if the monitor can be used in that way.

I run XP via Boot Camp as well, so if Windows must be used, then I haven't got a problem.

What combination of cables and configuration do I need to make this happen on the MacBook end of things?

The Mini DVI port is output not input. You cannot feed any signal from any device via that port. If you want to use the screen with your XBox use the search, this gets asked very frequently.

Apparently it gets asked more infrequently than you realize, because I've searched multiple times to no avail.

You could, however, take the few seconds to at least tell me if the MB's monitor CAN be used as an external monitor.

Of course, further asshatry is perfectly acceptable.

I did tell you. It cannot be used as a monitor for anything apart from the iMac itself. It's for connecting an additional monitor for the iMac. Display ports are directional. An output port cannot be used for input.
