I leave for a hunting trip tomorrow. Im going to the Big Island of Hawaii. While packing my bags tonight i thought of something... is it safe to put my iphone through the T.S.A. X-ray machines or should i put it in my suit case? I know either way its going to be x-rayed, but if its in my suitcase at least it will be a little protected. I know im probably being paranoied, but if other people have done it i will feel better. Last june i went through a T.S.A. check point i still had my old nextel. When they made me put all my belongings i had in my pocket into a basket so it could be scanned i actually was hoping for it to wreck my nextel. That way it would justify me gettting an iphone even more. haha. Everyones replies will be appreciated!

I was not aware that any damage could be done to any cell phones going through an x-ray machine.

What are you going to be hunting on the big island?
By the way if you have not been there the big island is beautiful!!

alright thanks for the info!

My dad and I are going to be hunting for trophy boars and rams. This is going to be only my second time to the Big Island. It is truly beautiful there. I live on Oahu and the big island made me not want to come back. Its so different than oahu.

I don't think that the X-Rays would bother it, but if they did putting it in your suitcase would be worse since they use more powerfull x-rays on it than on your carry on.

It's not the x-rays you need to worry about, it's the magnets... powerful electro magnets just itching to scramble (or more appropriately 'align') your hard drive.

The plastic bin on the x-ray conveyor is probably the safest place during airport screening. Don't try to take it through the metal detector, and try to avoid having the screener focus his 'wand' on it.

I'd keep it on you at all times. It's quite easy for a baggage handler or whomever to swipe it from your luggage. While airlines are pretty good with stolen items, the whole process is no fun.

I know, my parents had a camera stolen before.

Yeah the big island was great, i had a wonderful time. Hah yea P.O.G. Is a pretty good drink, no pog on the mainland?

I would love to have kept my phone on me at all times but everyone is required to empty their pockets while getting screened. I know what you guys mean, it could be really easy to just take the phone rite out of thoes plastic containers and just walk away. And i would never puty phone in my suit case, no offense to anyone who works with luggage, but thoes guys who work for the airlines wreck baggage. But everythin went well. Thanks for the replies!

I'm flying nearly weekly for the past two months and it has been x-rayed coming and going every trip. No problems.
