Is it safe to trade-in your old RAM modules? Once I pull them out of my 2009 Mac Pro, all the data is gone and un-recoverable, correct?

We don't get much for the trade-in ($2 per 2GB module), so if there's any danger I'll just throw them out.

When you turn off your Mac, all data in RAM is gone permanently. It is not a permanent storage device.

Once you turn your computer off the data is gone and unrecoverable! :)

Just wanted to add a third confirmation to what has been said above.

You've got nothing to worry about.
