iPad is it too late to get apple care+

Bought a new iPad in December and meant to get apple care + for it since I travel with it a lot (or will be soon rather).

Ended up forgetting to do so.

I cannot get Apple care+ for it online but I thought I read that if you bring you device into an Apple store for them to look at they will sign you up for it there. Is this true?

Yes, you can get your iPad in an Apple Store (book an appointment) and after an inspection, provided that there are no evident faults (broken screen etc) they could allow you to get apple care+, and it is less than one year since you bought it.

That said, I used to buy Apple Care for all my products; now I've replaced it with gadget insurance that covers multiple items from various manufacturers (You have to buy apple care for each Apple product). Overall is cheaper, extends protection up to five years after purchase, and on top of the accidental damage that Apple Care + offers also covers loss and theft. The policy I'm having is not widely available, but you may want to shop around before spending your money on Apple Care.
