Is it true that I wouldnt be able to access Facebooks cafeworld or scrabble?

If those things are built from flash, then yes you will not be able to use them. I'm not familiar with those apps so I cannot say for sure.
Just try it on your iphone/ipod touch - if it doesn't work on that, it will not work on the iPad since the iPad is just a gigantic ipod touch.

People's buying decisions being based on what they can and cannot do on Facebook worries me.
Well lets face it, for the average user at home Facebook may well be one of the websites they spend the most time on. She was being quite honest.
I know she was being honest I am simply saying that sometimes you may have to step back and ask why you're about to drop at least five bills on a device so you can sit on Facebook. Mind you, I have no friends so I don't see the appeal myself.
The iPad is a luxury item. For most people the iPad will be an entertainment device. Be it listening to music, watching videos, browsing for porn, or using facebook.
With all that in mind, the facebook functionality may well be high on many people's lists. As scary as this sounds, this $500-$900 device will mostly be a toy (entertainment item) for most users... so serious applications may be secondary considerations.

ANYWAY, I wouldn't worry about facebook apps not being available. I do believe the next release of the Flash SDK or whatever they call it includes the ability to export to a executable iPhone app.
Not so sure me stating that I have no friends is "ZING" worthy.

It isnt only Facebook but lack of Flash would make me think twice. Is there no way to download Flash separately? Im not tech minded so please excuse if this is a daft question!
Not daft at all really. The problem is that Flash needs to have a version that will run on the iPhone/iPad OS. Unfortunately right now there is not one and that is Apple's fault really. So you could go to the flash site and download the installer but it won't install.

This forum has said, in so many words, that the ipad isn't going after the tech geek. It's marketed for the average web consumer who wants something to sit on their coffee table or toss in a backpack and easily browse the web. So this is a completely valid question.
Face it, if the ipad can't function with one of the biggest, most popular websites on the web, that's a glaring hole. Facebook was around a lot longer before ipad.

And there's no need to bring that negativity here, the original posters question has been answered, no need to further try to impose your hatred of the iPad here.
It's completely relevant. Apple is introducing a product that cannot browse one of the most popular websites that predates it by many years.
It's like moving from Florida to Minnesota and not packing any jackets, instead telling the weather it should warm up just for you.
FOr the US maybe. UK hasn't seen the app link to FB yet last time i checked. not sure if they ever will.
