Wanting to replace my 2017 27" I5 Fusion but not sure about the downgrade in screen size that a 24" M1 would entail. Thanks in advance.

If you don't care about Bootcamp or Windows/Linux x86 virtual machines, it's not worth it.

I brought the 8-Core I7 2020 model 3 months ago knowing that the 24" M1's were coming. No Regrets, Everything works, all my apps, plugins, filters etc all work. Can boot into Windows also and have added lots of ram. However I did try a M1 Mini and do miss the silence and would say CPU performance is equal which is crazy impressive for 1st gen Apple Silicon.

The 24" iMac (actually 23.5" diagonal) has 25% less screen area. Only you can decide if this is OK. But here is one opinion on the size reduction:

I suggest wait for the Apple Silicon replacement for the 27" Intel iMac
