First time iPhone owner and I'm looking to buy some Airpods!

I want to save some money so I was thinking of buying the Airpod Pro 1st gen but I'm a little hesitant buying a 2019 product in fear that Apple might soon stop supporting it.

What are your thoughts on this?

PS: I know many people will recommend buying Airpod 3gen instead but (even though I know it's an unpopular opinion), I prefer the silicone bits that stick in your ear!

Stop supporting it? The Airpods don't stop working without firmware updates and some would argue that updates have decreased the performance of their AirPods Pro/Max as far as ANC is concerned. You can find Gen 1 Pro's for $169 or you can spend $230-$250 for Gen 2's. Only you can decide if you're willing to spend the extra $ for a newer product

I'd rather not pay so much for the Airpods because I live in Europe and I'm already paying $400 extra for the phone compared to US.. :(

So I'm torn between Airpod Pro 1 and Airpod 3 but I'm worried because I know generally Apple stops supporting it's products to make people buy new ones so I feel a little uncomfortable buying the APP1 and I don't know what to do.

If I go to a store and ask for help, obviously they will just try to sell me what is more expensive :/

I like the beats flex. They have silicone bits and are harder to lose! lol

If you ask me, it depends on whether or not you're going to use ANC. Sound quality wise, the old APPs are still great, but ANC is much better on the new ones.

Former owner of two sets of 1st gen Airpod Pros. I’m big into great sound quality. Was never really a fan of the 1st generation Pros. Even using an equalizer, in my opinion, the bass and mids were severely lacking and the soundstage seemed very narrow. Bought two pairs of the new 2nd generation Pros for a great price. Planned on returning them if I didn’t notice that much of a difference in sound. All I can say is that, in my opinion, the new Pros are everything I hoped for and more. Bass and mids are light years beyond the 1st generation. The noise cancellation is much better. The ability to control the volume via swipe is a nice bonus. Also, the “bulb” portion of the Airpod above the stem is shaped just a bit differently on the 2nd generations making them fit SO much better and keeping them from sliding out of my ears. Just my two cents, but the new Pros are worth every cent more than the 1st generation. I sold my two sets of 1st generation Pros for a decent price two days after receiving the 2nd generation Pros.

Don't worry about the issue of "stop supporting". That kind of issue is not going to be seen with the AirPods Pro for a very long time, way after its battery have exhausted further recharge.

It's a bluetooth device. It will connect to your iPhone.

That's interesting. I also have heard from others that ANC on APP2 is comparable to APP1; almost no difference. That put a stop to my thinking about upgrading. But maybe I will in the next couple of months as a gift to self....
