me buying a Power Mac G5 now or waiting until the new year to see what, if any, announcement is made regarding Intel?

If you need it now, get it now.

PPC will be continued to be supported for a very long time. All the non-intel Macs will not just explode one day; they will continue to work.

if you can wait till after the MWSF (Jan 10th) then wait because after that most likely you get iLife 06 with your machine instead of iLife 05.

There is no chance in Hell that a new PMG5 will be released at Macworld January, they have just come out with there much touted Quad which is more powerful than anything Intel could Muster, if you wanna get a Powermac G% Intel version you may have to wait at least 6 months if not more,

I like your madvillain icon, shadow.

And i second the others, the most you'll probably get after MWSF is the inclusion of iLife 06. But if i was in your boat, I don't think I could wait to order a PowerMac just for that. ;)

Will there be some kind of upgrade path for iLife if you buy now?

For example I know that if you buy a machine a certain time before a new OSX upgrade is announced then you are permitted to upgrade. Would the same happen with iLife 05 and 06?

I just wondered today what the benefits of having a 64-bit G5 are, when there will never be a 64-bit ppc version of almost all applications I use (ms office, ilife?, iwork?).

If there wasn't this question in my mind, I would certainly go for a quad-G5 in a few weeks or months, because this thing is so beautiful and silent! :p

The Power Mac's should be the last to be updated, so I doubt that they will introduce anything new very soon.

I doubt this would only happen if you bought your Powermac 14 days before the iLife upgrade.
