To be honest, you could stay on Catalina for now. I am saying this as a beta user in Big Sur and it still has some bugs on app holds and freezes, it's not ready for stable yet

I would recommend users who need stability and predictability stay on Catalina. Those who are a bit more knowledgeable to fix issues or have workarounds in beta situations can install the beta if they want. Personally, if it hit an issue and it causes concern for work or that I have other systems I can use. If this was my only driver, no to betas.

For Big Sur and most beta versions of SW, I would recommend always sticking with what you know works.

Even when Big Sur gets released, it would probably be a good idea to stay on stable OS versions. Also, there will probably be a lot of apps that will have compatibility issues at launch.

ha so I went ahead and got the BETA anyways since I read positive feedback and noticed Final Draft opens up but as soon as I hit one letter, the app shuts down. what a weird flaw. well you guys tried to warn me

Hopefully you have a bootable back up. I recommend having a few.

Yup, many of us speak from experience.
