Hi

I currently use a 13" MacBook Pro and a regular old windows desktop. The desktop is a decent, fast machine but I'd much rather be using an iMac.

By biggest issue is video editing. My current desktop finds it hard to handle intensive video editing (I'm using 720p. God forbid i upgrade to 1080.) but I'm pretty sure an iMac could handle it better, right? The only problem there is the extra £250 for Final Cut which, from my first play on it, doesn't seem easy to learn.

I'm a student so I can get a 21" iMac with Final Cut for just under £1,000, but it would clear my funds enough to prevent any more big buys for a bit, so really, is it worth it?

Opinions? :)

PS. If I decide not to, I'm totally getting an iPad :D

Only you can decide if it's worth it. But it will run fabulous and handle most anything you throw at it.

the op said the 21.5 "with student discount will push his budget to his limits ,
so dont push him towards a 27" , dont want a student go in dept for a 27 inch
and the 21.5 offers decent performance

but i would advice to get a 24" 2009 model ,used, 09 , but one with apple care on it it is a safe buy !!! and will handle all you want too and should leave you enough in your pocket for software you want or even need , which i think is more important

and to please the 27" i7 fans , yes the i7 is faster
