Completely agree with this. I also got mine from Amazon on sale and I don’t regret it.Yes, they sound quite a bit better. I think it's good to have both for relevant circumstances.
I agree, they are different animals. Frankly, any over the ear headphone is going to be a different animal any set of ear buds. I've had the Pros for quite a long time. I recently got the Max. I use both. The Max do sound better and provide better ANC than the Pros. Unless you have a really good seal with earbuds almost any set of over the ear headphones (not open back) provide more passive isolation. Different users could have very different, and completely valid, opinions about which is best for them. I like having both and will continue to use both.Of course, the audio quality is better. But they are a different "use case." They are comfortable for "cans," but I find that any can gets uncomfortable after a few hours.
For general use working on the computer I have actually found the AirPod 3 to be the best compromise between good sound, spacial location, and comfort. They also do not cut me off from the world around me, but I am only in an office with my wife, who "will not be ignored." In a noisy office the Max would be best.
I have all versions of AirPods plus a couple of Beats buds for exercise.
Right now they are $450 plus tax at Costco, and AppleCare + is $45. They only have space gray.Right now, you can get the APM for $450 plus tax on Amazon (sold and shopped by Amazon). The headline price is a discount down to $479, but there's then a small-print extra promo of another $29 off at check-out. Still not a cheap pair of headphones, but it is a lot better than list price from Apple. I ordered a pair last night.
Costco might be the better deal because of its liberal return policy and I'm not sure Amazon is giving a break on AppleCare.Right now they are $450 plus tax at Costco, and AppleCare + is $45.
Amazon is charging $59 for AppleCare+.Costco might be the better deal because of its liberal return policy and I'm not sure Amazon is giving a break on AppleCare.
