I've got an iPad Pro, specifically the 11-inch 2nd generation, with the model number MXDC2TY/A and a decent 256GB of storage. I've decided to sell it, and now I've got a potential buyer who's offering me a trade with their 2016 MacBook Pro 15-inch, model A1707. This MacBook Pro comes with an Intel Core i7 Quad-Core processor clocked at 2.7GHz, along with 16GB of LPDDR3 2133 MHz RAM. The graphics side is powered by an Intel HD Graphics 530 with 1536MB of dedicated memory, and the internal storage is set at 512GB. Its serial number is C02SR8J6GTFM. I'm wondering if swapping for this MacBook Pro would be a good move. Please help me!

MBP 15" between 2016 and 2019 had issues with keyboard.
If you must have a laptop for your needs, sell the ipad and get a newer one.

I would also stay away from the 2016 MBP, not only because of the keyboard issues but also because of the transition to Apple Silicon. Hard to tell for how long macOS will support Intel machines. I don't know what your use case is, but M1 MBA or M1 Pro MBP might be a better choice if you want this machine to last for many years

As others have said, keep the iPad. There is no reason at this point to move over to any Mac that's not Apple Silicon unless you REALLY need an Intel system specifically for the architecture.

Agree with Kottu above:
DO NOT take a 2016 MBP, even in trade!
You DO NOT want ANY MacBook that has a butterfly keyboard!

DO NOT BUY:
MacBook Pro 13" -- 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019
MacBook Pro 15" -- 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019
ALL of these have the disastrous "butterfly keyboards" that are highly-prone to failure. Although Apple has a free replacement program running for 4 years "from new", when that time expires YOU will pay for the repair.
And it's NOT CHEAP -- $750 for even a single key gone bad.
That's because the entire top case has to be replaced... even for a single key failure!

DO BUY:
MacBook Pro 13" -- 2020
MacBook Pro 16" -- 2019 and later.
These have the new "magic" (scissors) keyboards, as did the 2015 and earlier MBPs. These keyboards have been very reliable.

Also:
MacBook Pro 14" or 16" -- 2021
