My birthday is this friday and i want to know if its worth it guilting my parents into buying be an iPad. really the title explains it all. Is it worth using a birthday present to get an iPad(WiFi model)

What kind of uses do you expect to get from it?

ive got the wifi 16gb and i use it for mostly home, but i will occasionally go to the local subway and browse there. I use mostly my iPhone for the 3G stuff. I'm always on the go and dont see it worth much paying even $15 extra a month. I'd love it if i could tether that new iPhone with my iPad, but I see no future on that one. :(

although, if you do have an android you could when the new update comes out :D

I'm almost positive they will release mywi on 4.0

yeah APPLE MIGHT release it on 4.0 but ANDROID DEFINATELY will release it on 2.2 nad on some devices it has been already released.

Totally worth it! I use mine every day, and its light enough that you can carry it with you to find other uses for it.

ok. i'll take your word on it! if i get it, i'll post my likings/dislikings back on this thread. (depending on my grades i might/might not get it)

Apple released tethering in 3.0. Your issue is with AT&T. But that's not an issue anymore either, because you'll be able to add tethering to the $25 a month 2 GB plan for an extra $20. This does mean you'd have to give up an unlimited plan if you have one though.

Well if you want a mobile hotspot you can just JB and MyWi. No reason to give up unlimited data on your iphone and no reason to pay other fees , like tethering fee on the phone or data on an iPad....screw AT&T

I just returned my 3G and I'm back to WiFi ipad. No restocking fees either , told them I wasn't happy with data changes on AT&T.

MyWi !!! I love it. Works great and I always have power near by so drain on my phone isn't a big deal

It won't take long for i4 to be JB.

Oh yeah , is WiFi worth it ? ....... Y E S !!!

also, does anybody know where i can get an iPad for less then $499? i already looked on ebay and amazon and apple doesn't have any refurbished ones yet (i had a feeling they wouldn't but i wanted to check anyway)

At this point I think you're still lucky to get ahold of one period, much less at a discount.
