If you get the 2.4GHz model, you can save up and buy the display etc later. If you get the 2.2GHz model, you have all the extra stuff, but you can't upgrade the CPU later on. You'll have to deal with the stock KB+M and display size for the time being, though.

How long do you think it would take to save up enough to buy the extras?

You'll notice very little difference if anything (dependent on the application running, but still) going from the 2.2GHz CPU to a 2.4GHz CPU.

Get the 2.2GHz model and upgrade the RAM and get the other stuff you wanted.

I kinda agree with scarlet. You will never be able to upgrade the cpu and the vram. The 2.4 will prolly have a better resell value later on when your ready to buy a new computer. If you buy the 2.4 nhow you can always save up to get the extra screen and other stuff. You can't save up to get the faster cpu and vram. The reason why i bought the 2.4 was because i had a ADC discount comming and the discount is bigger on a higher price. I also chose the 2.4 because i could never upgrade the CPU and Vram. Never the less, you prolly wont notice any diffrent but when you sell it, you will get a better price selling it when you want to in a couple of years.

That are just my thoughts, they could be wrong tho. But i also had the same dillema you have.

Thanks for the replys its appreciated;

I am still being pushed towards getting the 2.2 as I dont think I will use the extra power but I dont know.

I will see how much I can get for my old laptop once it is repaired then I will decide.

thanks.

For what you are doing, the 2.2 is the better value. I use the apps you listed, including FCP and with an additional 2GB of RAM, the MBP is smooth like butter. My MBP is used mostly in a pro environment and so far, it has not disappointed.

And as mentioned often, unless you are doing intensive 3D work, the additional expense for a 2.4 could be used for other things, i.e. your list of peripherals.

To Cybergypsy: What difference do you see? Using what?
