I jailbroke my apple tv 2 so i could install plex. Mainly for the extra codec support for HD rips and so I didnt have to have my movies in my itunes folders as it would mean converting them all.

But now airplay works fine for plex is there actually any reason in having the apple tv jailbroken with plex on it? I do find the appletv is more buggy since being jailbroken, and I have worked out how to display subtitles via plex using the ios airplay or the plex appletv app anyway.

Can anyone think of any logical reasons why its worth keeping it jailbroken that i might have misseD?

I really enjoy the organization, metadata, and artwork that Plex provides without any sort of user-input. I just think it's beautiful on the big screen. I will always keep my AppleTV jailbroken for this exact reason, Plex.

Well it doesnt hurt to be jailbroken

And you dont need to AirPlay

I dont see a reason to switch back to stock if everything is working now

Unless your having problems with the ATV2 , just keep it jailbroken
Your not loosing any of the stock features

whats icefilms??

One word: Yes

Longer: I would not have bought an Apple TV 2 without jailbreak available. The only uses I have are because of Jaillbreak (XBMC and its video addons).

If Plex is not working for you, try something else?

I sincerely don't see how an Apple TV would be useful without jailbreak.

I guess it depends on what you're looking to do with it. I've had 2 Apple TVs for over 2 years and never jailbroke. Don't see any meaningful reason to do so.
