I have the MacBook Air since 2015, with 8 gb of Ram and 256 ssd. Lately I've been experiencing sudden battery drops as well as extreme overheating. Plus, I'm starting my data science masters and since I've been saving I was considering buying the 16 gb of ram, 512 ssd MacBook Pro, as I see it quite future proof. What do you think?

I think you will notice a significant improvement going from the 2015 MBA to the 2020 Ice Lake MBP. The screen is night and day vs. the 2015 MBA, the SSD is much faster, and the CPU is much quicker.
