Is “live” location in find my…. Device specific

Hey all,

just wanting to see if anyone could clarify something for me please,

Is the “Live” location in find my specific to newer devices? Myself and my other half have iPhone 12s both on most up to date iOS and we can both get “live” updates, her daughter has an XR on the most recent iOS and it shows in find my, but not as a “live” location,

Is this something that’s gone wrong in set up or does the XR not support the live feature?

any advice would be much appreciated

My partner and I re-shared our locations after the update and it worked fine, so they might need to try that.

Keep in mind that Live location is only on the “People” part of Find My, and not the “Devices” part.

Live Locations initially worked fine for me and my family after initial iOS 15 update but it has since stopped working - maybe after the iOS 15.1 update or my upgrade to an iPhone 13 and it reverted to the pre non-live location info for people in Find My.

Same here. Re-sharing did not fix the Live Location issue for me

Live Location works between my 13 Pro and wife's XS Max, I just used it today. Neither of us went in and changed/reset any of our location settings, it just started working. I'm on 15.1, I'm pretty sure she's on 15.0

I doesn’t work all the times and my wife has a 6S. My iPhone is a XS.
We never had to remove and add back again the location sharing. It just started to work with 15.0/15.1 a few weeks ago.

Same exact issue I have. Worked great with iOS 15 initial release then stopped around iOS 15.1. We both also upgraded to the 13 Pros so could’ve been that but I’m guessing it’s software related. Looking for a fix and the stop sharing re-sharing location didn’t work for us. So aggravating as this was the only iOS 15 iPhone feature I was looking forward to.
