Anyone have any horror stories that might deter me from purchasing from them?

I've purchased from them in the past. No problems. They are one of the biggest and oldest Mac sellers online.

They are old and basically reliable. They've shipped me a few products that aren't correct (like they advertise a version 2.0, but end up shipping me something different), but no problems returning, etc...

Hi, munkee!

I don't have a horror story. I ordered my iBook from them a few years ago. I got free RAM, FirstEdge accounting software, and a free Targus laptop bag. Everything shipped on time; the price was good; and everything came as advertised. No complaints here! I'm certain someone will post a horror story soooner or later as that is the nature of ANY business. My experience, though, has been positive.

Have fun... Tony.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I'll be calling them today or tomorrow.

I have not personally ordered from them, but I have heard many people on this forum speak highly of them.
When I looked on CNET, they are rated as a "Certified Merchant" with a 5-star rating.

Interestingly, though, if you look on www.resellerratings.com, they get very low marks with MANY "dissatisfied" reviews. Everything that I have read about them is favorable, so I must believe that the reviews are the result of unscrupulous competitors, but it does make you wonder.

I think you'll be fine, given the numerous positive testimonials on this website. In the end, I would much rather trust the folks on this website than relatively 'anonymous' feedback on websites like Reseller Ratings.

Big fan of macmall but...

I have purchased 3 computers through them as well as many accessories with great satisfaction. I have had two separate instances that required almost daily calling regarding rebates. There rebate are very confusing on what is required and plagued with conflicting info. (eg. "...postmarked within 20 days of purchase date" then later on down the page it says "...postmarked within 20 days of delivery". As well as other confusing information about what justifies a UPC label, one part says photocopy is ok and then later states it must include the cardboard backing, exc.) Due to these errors they declined both rebate applications which required me calling and pointing them out, they then obliged and granted the rebates.

The two rebate issues I have had with them were finally resolved but they were nuisances. But I still do all my non-apple store purchases thru them.

I bought a laptop bag... it was a day late, but that was UPS's fault.

I'd order from them again.
Nearly all of my problems with online retail shops are as a result of UPS.

They did not send me my rebate, other than that everything was ok.

bait n switch bastards

Bought a powerbook back in october w/RAM upgrade & their "free" nano offer. They denied the rebates for both and refuse to answer phone calls or emails. RUN AWAY, VERY FAST. I will never deal with them again and will tell anybody who will listen about their disgraceful behavior.
