Mt atv is on delivery, ordered my micro cable and dl'd season pass, ready to jb when I get it. I use my Mac mini's Internet sharing for wifi. Is this workable to stream to atv?
One feature I hope to use,, is to mirror my ipad2 to the tv wirelessly and hopefully find an easy way to control a web browser on the tv. Is that the best web browser experience via atv?

You can use your Mac to create an ad hoc wireless network and use that to get the ATV onto the internet.

The range won't be fantastic, but it will work.

What I'm not sure about is the airplay features - given that there's not a real router involved.

It may be wise to look into a wireless router. You can get one for pretty cheap if all you need is basic features (no gigabit ethernet, usb ports, ect...).

Yes, you should be able to do what you want with the Mac's internet sharing. I'd recommend you get a router, the cost is minimal for the features you gain. With an inexpensive router, you can go wireless for convenience but I find better results when you run an Ethernet cable from your router to the Apple TV, heck run one to the iMac if you can swing it.

Thanks all. Not an iMac, I use my Mac Mini/living room HDTV but I want options on my bdrm HDTV. I have Sony's wonderful DHG-HDD500gb HDTV DVRs for cable/OTA but want light internet via iPad2 and some of the jb'd ATV repo sources and itunes music on the bdrm HDTV. I'm not much of an itunes movie user except for some videos for my ipad/mobile use. and I prefer movies on the liv room set.
can't wait to tweak the ATV, never had one. been a Mac Mini>HDTV user for years.
I'll look into a router, but I never liked using or setting them up, plus its one more AC plug for my living room HTPC setup.
